Page 1Walkthrough for Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier (PS2)Copyright 2009-2010 Andrew EastabrookVersion 1.06IntroductionThis Walkthrough is the first one I have written, so bear with me. It waswritten for the PS2 version of the game, so the controls given are differentfrom the controls for the PSP version. I hope you find this guide helpful. That said, I do not intend to tell you which plane and mods to use, which Ecoupgrades to buy first, or how to beat individual enemies, apart from bosses ofcourse, as every gamer is different, and some gamers are better with differentfighting styles.
Apr 14, 2018 Lost Frontier is a turn-based strategy game, brought to you from the creators of the Battleheart and Zombieville series'. In a fantasy-western setting consumed by steam-punk technology and the supernatural, can you survive with just your wit and a six-gun at your side? Lost Frontier Chapter 20 3-Stars played by Magnemania.
If you must know, I used the Interceptor, and favour meleecombat where possible, but each gamer should find a combat style that suitsthem best.Players should also realise that not all upgrades and mods are available on thefirst playthrough. Upon completing the game you are given the opportunity tostart again in Hero mode, where the enemies are slightly harder, with all ofyour upgrades, weapons, etc.
In hero mode there are some new mods available, new secrets available in the secrets menu, and some new chests scatteredthroughout the game. Finally, a little note about the Eco Powers. I have dropped the 'Eco' from themafter the first time I mention them, but I have retained the capitalisation.i.e. 'Shield' means 'Eco Shield', while 'shield' refers to the small bits ofmetal that a few enemies use to defend themselves.Legal InfoAll trademarks and copyrights contained in this document are owned by theirrespective trademark and copyright holders. This Walkthrough may only be hosted by GameFAQs (www.gamefaqs.com), SuperCheats (www.supercheats.com) or Neoseeker (www.neoseeker.com). I think the game is pretty meh/mediocre and the worst installment of the Jak games.
There were some good ideas there and some things I liked, like the upgrade system for the guns, the armors and so on. Sadly, the platforming was kinda frustrating because Jak didn't control as well as the original trilogy. And the plane missions are a fucking drag. Oh, and Dark Daxter is awful, just plain awful! With that being said, some people hate the game because of the shit story and/or because it wasn't made by Naughty Dog.which I think is pretty stupid. I agree that hating the game because it wasn't made by ND is stupid, but the story was legitimately bad. The characterization was awful for starters, the only character I recognized was Daxter. And no Samos?
I can understand not returning any of the other cast for the sake of doing something new, but you can't not have Samos. I even understand not wanting to take him along to the Brink since this is supposed to be Keira's adventure, but that's not an excuse to have him in the game somewhere, even if it's just a little bit to acknowledge he exists. He wasn't even mentioned. Especially if you're going to have Keira become a sage, you'd think Samos would be pretty important for that whole part.It also didn't flow well with established canon at all. Jak can't transform into Dark Jak because the eco in the air was too unstable? Jak's Dark and Light Jak forms came from within. And Dark Daxter?
Seriously? The basic concepts behind the story were great, don't get me wrong, but the execution was awful. Shitty writing, bad pacing, and, like I said, awful characterization, and for the new characters, subpar character development (although Ruskin was pretty well-developed, he just didn't have enough screentime). Story has always been of primary importance to the Jak and Daxter series, at least starting with Jak II and onwards. It was the precursor (no pun intended) to the Uncharted formula, blending and intertwining story and gameplay seamlessly. Some people prefer gameplay and don't care about the story, but the developers and the game itself presented the game as structured and centered around a story. If you want a gameplay-first franchise with similar gameplay, play Ratchet & Clank. Also, I think disregarding the importance of story in a Jak and Daxter game is what will naturally result in a bad Jak and Daxter game. And I think anyone who doesn't value the centrality of Jak and Daxter's story to the franchise aren't getting as much out of the franchise as they could. The quality of the story, especially in Jak II and 3, is at least 50% of the experience, if not more, because that's where Naughty Dog dedicated their efforts.
The gameplay more or less simply lifted popular elements out of other games (GTA, THPS, N4S, R&C, etc.) and threw 'em together. They continued this into Uncharted. Uncharted does not have unique gameplay, at all. It's pretty damn basic. But the value of Uncharted comes from the formula ND created with Jak II and perfected with Uncharted 2. It's the worst but it's okay. The plot is fine and the world building is also alright. Real problems are the air ship sections are super buggy and Jaks movement is off.If you played the shit out of the other games then you'll know Jak controls very fluidly and consistently across all 3 games, and here he feels stiff.
Doesn't FEEL like Jak. Not being able to roll blows shit. Level design is hit or miss. I recall liking the pirate town level but the lab level is like super barren and empty.Dark Daxter plot wise is lame, and mechanically it'd be okay but his levels legit take like 8 minutes each or somehting, so it actually sucks.Overall only buy if you're already a Jak fan. If you're not don't. I didn't hate it, but it is definitely the worst of the series.
The concept behind the story was interesting and the plot was somewhat passable.I was ok with the lack of Dark/Light Jak since eco had become unstable, but that should have also disallowed them from making the Dark Daxter segments, which kinda sucked. It didn't control all that well, I guess because it was a PSP game that was also ported to the PS2. The flying wasnt terrible, but there was WAAAAY too much of it. Felt like 90% of my play time was spent on an aircraft. The lack of Mike Erwin was a bummer.
Josh Keaton did a fine job, but he lacked the gravel and badassery of Erwin. It just didn't feel like a proper continuation to the series. Didn't progress the main narrative or add meaningful changes to gameplay. Could've been done a lot better.
They could have gotten rid of a lot of the flying segments, started the first act in Haven City and revealed that eco was becoming unstable instead of jumping us at a point where their adventure already started. Should have tightened up the gameplay and made it as a PS2 game instead of the shotty mobile port.I haven't played it since it released, so my memory on it isn't perfect, but what I do remember was being happy to revisit the character, but very disappointed with the execution.
